Propane can be kept for long periods without spoilage, different from gasoline and diesel which might go bad within a few months to a year, depending on the quality of the fuel. Some loss may occur from composite propane tanks, although the metal tanks found in most areas are much more tightly sealed and do not really leak at all.
Before you stock up on propane, keep in mind some states and countries have legislation that determine how much propane you'll be able to lawfully store. So be sure to examine your local, state or national legislation.
